Lutsk

Lutsk is one out of only some Ukrainian cities where building process achieves a good level of development - new housing estates appear, accomplishment is always kept on high level and reconstruction of morally old things is constantly in progress. During recent years, Lutsk has turned into a real European city. Broad streets and fashionable houses, green parks and colourful flowerbeds add picturesque and fabulous tones to its look.

Fans of antiquity can peep in antique shops on Lesya Ukrainka Street. During holidays, the street turns into the folk art exhibition. One can purchase Volyn artists' paintings and various souvenirs. Bogdan Khmelnytskyy Street is famous not only for its fairy like houses of the end of the XIX century but also for the monument of city's patronizer saint Mykolay that has recently appeared near the municipal administration office.

There is marvelous architectural collection on the central square (Teatralna Square): the Musical Drama Theater named after Taras Shevchenko and the People's House "Prosvita", weeping willows and fountains perfectly harmonize with the monument to Lesya Ukrainka - the mistress of the square. By the way, at these two buildings almost all musical and theatrical life of the city is focused: classical and folk music concerts, performances of creative work and foreign troupes tours take place there. Teatralna Square is the permanent place for modern music concerts. On holidays people come here to celebrate, that is why central roads are closed for cars on such days.
