The Rivne region is located on the Western-Eastern part of Ukraine. The territory of it is 20,1 th. sq. km. Its territory from the West to East is 130 km, from the North to South is 210 km, its borders of verge are Zhytomir, Khmelnitsky, Ternopil, Lviv, Volyn regions of Ukraine & Brest and Homel regions of Belorus. By the administrative-territorial division the region is including 16 districts, 4 towns of submission to region & 6 town of submission to districts. The population of the region is 1,2 ml. peoples, or 2,3% from the population of Ukraine. The middle condensation of population per one sq. km. is 59 people. The structure of population of the region is: country - 52,5% from general quantity, town - 47,5 %. The wooden found of the region is 853 th. hectares, including wood covered lands - 794 th. hectares, the general stock of wood is more then 100 min. Rivne region is rich in surface waters. There are counted 171 of rivers at full length of 10 km every, more then 500 of lakes, 31 water savings.

There are counting 10 highest educational institutions of 3-4 level of accreditation in the region, where are learning 17260 of students & 17 highest educational institutions by 1-2 level of accreditation, where are learning 12861 of students. The most famous of them it is Rivne State Technical University, Rivne State Humanitarian University, and the National University "Ostrog Academy". The highest educational institutions have the high educational scientific potential to enjoy the high technological demands of the industrial enterprises in qualified personnel. The educational institutions of 3-4 level provide the studding of personnel by 48 branches. There are having job more then 1462 people of staff, which make the scientific-research work, from them are: academicians -22, has the science level and scholar title -657. There are providing the strong connections between the scientific staff of the region and educational institutions of Poland, Germany, USA, France, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Algeria, Canada, Russia, Republic of Belorus, which assist of the further integration of the region into the world's science.

Rivne region is an owner of the great recreation -tourists resources. There are two state historical cultural reservations in Dubno and Ostrog towns with the monuments of history and architecture of the XIV-XIX centuries. There is the real state historical museum "The Field of Beresteyskaya Battle" in the village Plyasheva, there is going to be the festive celebration of 350 anniversary in memory of the heroes of the Beresteyskaya Battle in June, 2001. There are the monuments of history and architecture too the complex of Saint Troitskiy Convent, town Korets, on the territory of mentioned is the grave of Anna Andro, signed in the poems by Alexander Pushkin, the complex of Saint Nickolay Convent located in the village Gorodok of the Rivne district, the complex of Mezhyrichi Sait Troitsky Convent, located in Ostrog, Derman Convent, located in Zdolbuniv district. The excellent nature landscapes are in the Berezne district, so called "Sokolyni gory ("Falcon mountains"), basalt columns of the Berestovets deposits in Kostopil district, amber deposits on the Northern districts of the region. There is very interesting to see the sights of the exotic kinds of trees dendro park of Berezne forest colleague, there is famous in Ukraine Yuzefinski Park with the 100-yars oak and the natural reservation "Vyshneva Gora" ("Cherries Mountain"). The most famous among the sanatoriums with the mineral waters are the "Chervona Kalyna" ("Red snowball tree") in the village Zhobryn of the Rivne district and the "Horyn", village Stepan of the Sarny district. The Saint Anna mystic spring with the curative water in the village Onyshivtsi, Dubno district is the place of Christians pilgrimage from all the parts of Ukraine & abroad. The great reacreation resources and the possible natural climate conditions has the zone, located around the Khrinniki water storehouse in Demidivka district. Rivne region is the owner of necessary natural and material technical basis for developing the extreme kinds of tourism; military, aviation, hunting, swimming by rafts, rest on the saddle. There are three historical museums (Radyvyliv, Korets, village Dubrivsk of Zarichne district), four country informative (Rivne, Berezno, Kostopil, Mlyniv). The best sports teams of Rivne region: volleyball "Polisyanka" (higher league), basketball "BK-93 "Pulsar" (super league).
